Character voices
Most text to speech reads a whole novel in one voice. Lyraboo gives every character their own — automatically, for every book you upload.
No voice menus, no tagging lines by hand.

Lyraboo separates narration from dialogue, works out which character says each line and chooses a voice to suit each of them.
The first chapter is ready in a minute or two and plays in a familiar music-app-style player while the rest generate.
Plain text to speech has one narrator for everything: the description, the hero, the villain, the child. In a chapter that is mostly dialogue, you stop knowing who is talking. Character voice TTS fixes that by giving each speaking character a separate voice, so a conversation sounds like a conversation.
Apps get there in three ways:
The text is split into chapters, and narration is separated from speech. Each line of dialogue is attributed to its speaker — including the long back-and-forth stretches where the book stops writing “she said”. Every character then gets a voice chosen to suit them, and keeps it for the rest of the book. Non-fiction, with no characters, is read by one narrator.
Voices cannot be hand-picked yet, and attribution can slip in very long unattributed dialogue. English books sound best; Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian and Russian are in beta. Lyraboo is Android-only and needs an internet connection — the voices are generated in the cloud. Want the details of the cast itself? See multi-voice audiobooks.
The things people notice in the first chapter — and the reasons they stay.
Lyraboo’s AI finds every character in the book and casts a distinct voice for each — automatically, for every book. You always know who is speaking, and dialogue sounds like a real conversation instead of one narrator doing all the parts. Most reading and text-to-speech apps use one voice for everything.
Under the player, the book scrolls with the voice the way song lyrics do in Spotify: words light up as they are spoken, each line shows who says it, and tapping any word jumps there.
Chapters, speed from 0.25× to 3×, background playback with lock-screen controls, and it picks up exactly where you stopped.
Pick an EPUB, PDF or TXT and there is nothing to set up: the first chapter is ready in about one to two minutes, and the rest generate while you listen.
Novels, fanfiction and web-serial exports, indie ebooks, study PDFs — plus over 1,000 English classics already in the app.
One free hour of listening every month, no card needed. Hours are spent once per chapter — replaying is always free.
Ordinary text to speech reads everything in one voice. Character voice TTS gives each speaking character their own voice, so you can tell who is talking by ear — the way a full-cast audiobook or an audio drama works.
Not in Lyraboo: the casting is automatic for every book. Some apps make you pick a voice per character or charge extra for a full cast; here it is simply how every book is narrated.
Yes. Once a character has a voice, they keep it from chapter to chapter, and new characters get their own as they appear.
Not at the moment — voices are cast automatically. That keeps it effortless, at the cost of control.
Free to start: every account gets one hour of listening a month, no card required. More hours come with a subscription.
Upload a book you own and let the app turn it into a multi-voice audiobook automatically.
